Heb Group working in conjunction with Henry Boot Construction and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council have undertaken a full Met Centre refurbishment, including purpose built meat & fish stalls, general stalls and cafes within Market Kitchen. Heb Group have worked to produce a modern, functional, inviting environment for all traders, locals and visitors to Barnsley.
We facilitated two temporary markets (with a combined M&E value in excess of £1 Million) prior to the commencement of the main market refurbishment to allow a smooth transition into the new market and allow stall holders to continuing trading throughout this period of change. Phase 1 of the ‘Better Barnsley’ Programme has seen the refurbishment of the markets and will continue onto Phase 2, which includes the demolition of the multi-storey car park to be replaced with new retail and leisure opportunities for local businesses. The total Better Barnsley scheme, combined with additional public realm improvements and a new college building, will bring the total town centre investment to £100m.
As a proud South Yorkshire Electrical and Mechanical Services contractor, providing our turnkey M&E services to such an ambitious local scheme is held very high in our esteem.
