Mobile Cleaning Operative – Yorkshire & Northwest

Division: Cleaning & Hygiene + Security
Location: Across Yorkshire and the Northwest
Hours: Part-Time, 20–30 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 (variable shifts)
Pay: £13.21 per hour
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days pro rata, inclusive of all bank holidays

We’re looking for a flexible, reliable Mobile Cleaning Operative to support our team across multiple client sites in Yorkshire and the Northwest. This is a key role for someone who enjoys variety, can adapt quickly, and takes pride in delivering consistently high cleaning standards, wherever they’re needed. If you’re punctual, trustworthy, and confident working independently, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Mobile Cleaning Operative, you’ll provide cover for planned and short-notice absences across our Cleaning & Hygiene portfolio. That includes stepping in at short notice for sickness or holidays, supporting regular shifts at schools and public buildings, and assisting with urgent requests as part of our wider response team. Travel is a regular part of the job, and flexibility is essential.

You’ll work independently or alongside other team members, depending on the size and nature of the site. Duties include general cleaning of classrooms, offices, public spaces, and washrooms, ensuring that every space is left clean, safe, and ready for use. You’ll be trusted to represent Heb Group on-site, so professionalism, attention to detail, and good communication matter just as much as technical skill.

The working week is 20–30 hours, spread across 5 days, with shifts that vary depending on the needs of each site. You must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel regularly between locations. We’ll provide a company vehicle and any additional training needed, including Enhanced DBS checks, if required for school sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cleaning support across a range of sites in Yorkshire and the Northwest
  • Carry out routine cleaning tasks including floors, surfaces, washrooms, and touchpoints
  • Step in at short notice to cover team absences, holidays, or site emergencies
  • Maintain safe working practices in line with COSHH and site-specific health & safety protocols
  • Keep cleaning supplies stocked in the company vehicle and report any site-specific requirements
  • Build positive working relationships with on-site contacts and your Heb area manager
  • Ensure all tasks are completed to the highest standard and within allocated time

What We’re Looking For

  • Prior cleaning experience preferred, especially in schools, offices, or public buildings
  • A valid full UK driving licence (clean), essential for the mobile nature of the role
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Physically fit and comfortable working independently or in teams
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and personal presentation
  • Willingness to travel regularly and sometimes at short notice
  • Enhanced DBS check is preferred (can be arranged if required)
  • Reliable, professional, and confident representing Heb Group on client sites

Why Join Heb Cleaning & Hygiene?

As a Mobile Operative, no two days are ever the same. You’ll be part of a trusted response team, covering multiple sites and playing a key role in helping us keep critical spaces clean, safe, and operational. You’ll benefit from the flexibility of varied work, the support of a close-knit management team, and the security of consistent hours and fair pay.

We’ll provide you with a company vehicle, all necessary training, and ongoing support from your area manager. You’ll work across a range of school, healthcare, office, and public-sector sites, gaining experience in different environments while being part of a wider team that values reliability and professionalism.

If you’re someone who enjoys variety, likes being on the move, and takes pride in a job well done, you’ll find long-term stability and real purpose in this role. Many of our senior team members began as operatives, and we’ll always back people with the right attitude and work ethic.
