Maintenance Gas Engineer
We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Gas Engineer to join our Facilities Management division. About the Role
As a Maintenance Gas Engineer, you’ll be responsible for planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, fault finding, and installations across a wide range of gas systems. Your work will cover commercial and domestic boilers, gas-fired water heaters, air handling units, radiant tube heaters, heating systems, and associated controls.
You’ll carry out statutory gas safety checks, testing, and certification in line with Gas Safe regulations. A key part of the role will be identifying and resolving issues quickly and effectively, ensuring that all works meet compliance requirements and client expectations.

In addition, you’ll support our Helpdesk team by responding to reactive callouts, provide on-call cover as part of a rota, and keep accurate updates within our CAFM system. Health and safety compliance is central to this role, and you’ll also take part in training to stay current with legislation, regulations, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and installation works on a variety of gas systems.
- Carry out gas safety checks, testing, and certification in line with Gas Safe requirements.
- Diagnose and repair faults on gas boilers, water heaters, heating systems, and associated equipment.
- Provide on-call support as part of a rota for urgent callouts.
- Compile accurate quotations for repairs and installations.
- Update the CAFM system with job details, progress, and completion records.
- Always maintain safe working practices and comply with legislation.
- Represent Heb Group professionally with clients and colleagues.
What We’re Looking For
- ACS Commercial and Domestic Gas qualifications (CCN1, COCN1, CENWAT1, HTR1, etc.) – essential.
- Additional commercial gas qualifications (CIGA1, CDGA1, TPC1A, COMCAT 1–5) desirable (training provided).
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating preferred.
- Proven experience in gas maintenance, servicing, fault finding, and installation.
- Current Gas Safe Registration (company supported).
- Knowledge of HVAC and controls desirable.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Flexible, self-motivated, and customer-focused approach.
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
