As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint a committed School Cleaning Operative to support the delivery of exceptional cleaning services within one of our education contracts.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Cleaning Supervisor / Contract Manager, the School Cleaning Operative will be responsible for carrying out daily cleaning duties to ensure the school is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.

Working independently and as part of a wider team, the successful candidate will follow established cleaning procedures, safely use cleaning equipment and products, and contribute to maintaining a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hoover classrooms, corridors, offices and communal areas.
  • Wipe down desks, furniture and high-touch surfaces.
  • Clean, sanitise and disinfect toilets and washroom facilities.
  • Mop and maintain hard floor surfaces.
  • Empty waste bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Replenish soap, paper products and other consumables where required.
  • Safely use cleaning equipment and products in accordance with COSHH guidance and company procedures.
  • Report maintenance issues, damage or defective equipment to the Cleaning Supervisor or Contract Manager.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
  • Follow all company policies, client procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Deliver high standards of cleanliness whilst working within allocated timescales.
  • Represent Heb Group professionally at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with Heb Group's Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous cleaning experience (preferred but not essential as full training will be provided).
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe use of cleaning products.
  • Experience working within a school or similar environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (desirable but not essential).
