Heb Mechanical & Electrical is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to join our growing North West operations team. This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the successful delivery of complex mechanical building services projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Working across a diverse range of construction projects, the successful candidate will take responsibility for managing mechanical installations from pre-construction handover through to completion, coordinating project teams, subcontractors and suppliers whilst maintaining strong client relationships and commercial control.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to strengthen our North West operations team and support the successful delivery of major projects across the region.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Senior Mechanical Project Manager will take responsibility for the successful delivery of mechanical building services projects from pre-construction handover through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and in accordance with client expectations.
Working closely with Operations Managers, Contracts Managers, clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including planning, procurement, programme management, commercial performance, health and safety, quality assurance and client communication.
As a senior member of the project delivery team, the role will also involve providing leadership and technical guidance to Engineers, Supervisors and Site Managers, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with Heb Group's operational standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the successful delivery of mechanical building services projects from pre-construction handover through to practical completion and final account.
- Lead the planning, programming and coordination of project activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed project timescales.
- Manage Heb Group employees, subcontractors and supply chain partners across allocated projects, ensuring works are completed to the required quality and safety standards.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, designers and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead project meetings, site progress meetings and client reviews, representing Heb Group in a professional manner.
- Review project drawings, specifications, programmes and contract documentation to ensure a full understanding of project requirements.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and implement effective solutions to minimise delays and maintain programme.
- Oversee procurement activities, ensuring materials, plant and subcontractors are procured in line with programme requirements and project budgets.
- Monitor project costs, variations and resource requirements, working closely with Commercial and Contracts Management teams to maximise project performance.
- Maintain commercial oversight of allocated projects, supporting cost control, forecasting, variation management and the successful agreement of final accounts.
- Carry out regular site inspections, quality checks, snagging inspections and progress reviews to ensure works meet company and client expectations.
- Ensure all project documentation is completed accurately, including progress reports, site records, quality inspections and commissioning documentation.
- Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across all projects.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, company procedures and industry standards, including the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Work collaboratively with the Group Health, Safety & Environmental team to maintain safe systems of work and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support commissioning activities, testing, client demonstrations and project handovers to ensure successful project completion.
- Maintain accurate project records, including training records, operative competency records and site documentation where required.
- Provide leadership, technical guidance and mentoring to Engineers, Supervisors, Site Managers and other members of the project team.
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, operational efficiency and commercial performance across the wider business.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with Heb Group's Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
- Carry out nationwide site visits where required.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Personal Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Building Services or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience delivering mechanical building services projects within the construction industry, including experience in a senior project management or comparable leadership role.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services installations.
- Excellent understanding of construction programmes, project management and site operations.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors, direct labour and supply chain partners.
- Strong working knowledge of current Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
- Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, commercial performance, variations and contractual requirements.
- SMSTS qualification.
- CSCS Management Card.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple project activities and meet deadlines.
- Experience managing client relationships and coordinating with consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Ability to provide guidance and support to junior members of the project delivery team.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- HNC/HND or Degree in Building Services Engineering.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience delivering projects across healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and public-sector environments.
- Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Experience working with BIM and digital project information.
- Temporary Works Coordinator training.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- Experience managing multiple projects or larger, technically complex mechanical installations.
- Previous experience mentoring and developing Project Managers, Engineers or site-based teams.
