Getting to Know: Harrison Barton

We’re excited to introduce Harrison Barton, one of the newest members of our finance team. Fresh from graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Business and Financial Management from Sheffield Hallam University, Harrison joins Heb Group as an Account Assistant, and he’s already hit the ground running.

"What really drew me to Heb Group is how much the business is growing, it’s exciting to see a company that's clearly going places. But what stood out even more was the culture. It seems like a place where people genuinely look out for each other, and I love that you invest in your employees through training and development. I also really respect how involved you are in the community. It shows that you're not just focused on business success, but also on making a positive impact, which is something I really value. And honestly, the fact you're close to home is a nice bonus too!"

What attracted you to the role of Account Assistant here?

What attracted me to the Account Assistant role was the chance to build on what I’ve learned during my degree in a hands-on, real-world environment. I’ve always enjoyed working with numbers, but I’m also someone who likes structure, problem-solving, and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes, all of which seem to be a big part of this role. I was also drawn to the opportunity to work as part of a supportive finance team, where I can keep learning, take on new challenges, and grow into more responsibility over time. Knowing that Heb Group invests in its people and values development made the role even more appealing, because I’m keen to learn and progress in my career in finance.

What does your day-to-day currently look like?

Processing invoices, checking delivery notes, gaining approval for invoices, learning new tasks, working closely with Bailey and most importantly having fun and a laugh.

Work & Ambition

I’m most excited about putting what I’ve learned during my degree into practice and gaining real experience in a professional finance setting. It’ll be great to get stuck into the day-to-day responsibilities like invoices, reconciliations, and reporting, things I’ve studied but now actually get to do. I’m especially looking forward to studying for my CIMA qualification and continuing to grow in the finance field.

People & Culture

Really friendly and funny. We have a good laugh but also work hard. It’s a very chilled out and relaxed place to be, and I’ve honestly never worked in such a nice and positive environment like this before.

Outside of the Office

I mean; reading, investing and drinking tea as a 22-year-old sounds surprising, I sound like I’m retired when I’m just getting started lol! I also love going to the gym, collecting fragrances and travelling. Bit of a mix, but I enjoy keeping things interesting.

A warm welcome from all of us at Heb Group, we’re really pleased to have Harrison on board. His energy, curiosity, and drive to learn have already made a strong impression, and we’re looking forward to seeing him grow with the business.
