Hull Community Diagnostic Centre Now Complete: Heb M&E Delivers on Critical NHS Project

The Hull Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Albion Square is now complete  and Heb Mechanical & Electrical is proud to have played a key role in bringing it to life. Delivered in partnership with Vinci Construction and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, this state of the art facility is part of the NHS’s wider push to expand access to early-stage diagnostics across the UK.

Heb M&E was responsible for the full mechanical and electrical delivery, from early design through to testing, commissioning, and compliance. As with any healthcare project, attention to detail was critical. Every system had to meet HTM standards, and the delivery needed to align precisely with the wider construction programme.

With diagnostics like CT, MRI and X-ray at the heart of this building, our job was to make sure all supporting systems, ventilation, power, lighting, and building controls, could be relied upon from day one. This project gave us the opportunity to apply our healthcare expertise on a scheme that will genuinely improve outcomes for patients in Hull.

What We Delivered and Why It Mattered

The scope of our work covered a wide range of specialist services. This included heating and chilled water systems, full BMS integration, LV distribution, sanitaryware, ventilation, and photovoltaic installations to support the Trust’s long-term sustainability goals. All works were delivered to HTM and CIBSE standards, with close coordination alongside clinical stakeholders and supply chain partners.

For the Heb M&E team, the challenge was in balancing technical complexity with programme certainty. Working in a constrained city centre site, we phased the works to ensure compliance, minimise disruption, and maintain consistent quality across all stages. Collaboration was key, both within the Heb team and with our partners on site.

This project also reinforced our commitment to building environments that are not just functional, but resilient. From plantroom design to final commissioning, our work helps ensure the new Hull CDC is equipped to operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal maintenance overhead for years to come.

The Hull Community Diagnostic Centre stands as a strong example of how joined-up M&E delivery can make a real difference to healthcare infrastructure. It’s a project we’re proud to have been part of  and a reminder of how technical expertise, clear communication, and client trust come together to create something meaningful.
