Heb Mechanical & Electrical was contracted to deliver a comprehensive mechanical services package for the ventilation system upgrade at Coca Cola Enterprises’ Wakefield bottling plant.

As Europe’s largest soft drinks production facility by volume, this plant plays a critical role in Coca Cola’s supply chain, producing over 100 million cases annually and employing more than 430 people.

Project Scope

The project involved the full upgrade of the ventilation system within one of the plant’s key production line buildings.

The new system was designed to meet the stringent operational demands of the facility, ensuring optimal air quality, temperature control, and safety standards necessary for high-volume production. Heb Mechanical & Electrical’s role encompassed the design, installation, and commissioning of the upgraded system.

Key Challenges and Solutions

  • Maintaining Production Schedules: Given the scale and importance of the facility, it was crucial to minimise disruption to Coca Cola’s operations. Heb’s project management team worked closely with on-site staff to coordinate the installation, ensuring that production could continue uninterrupted throughout the upgrade.

  • High Safety Standards: As part of Coca Cola’s commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient production environment, the new ventilation system had to meet rigorous safety and performance criteria. Heb’s team ensured that all aspects of the installation adhered to these standards, providing long-term benefits in terms of energy efficiency and environmental control.

Outcome

The £250,000 project was completed on time and within budget, resulting in a significant improvement to the plant’s ventilation capabilities.

Heb Mechanical & Electrical’s expertise ensured the smooth and efficient delivery of the system, supporting Coca Cola’s high standards of production efficiency, operational safety, and sustainability.
